Delicate Design Depictions

Oh – I just can’t get enough of artistic room renderings… And while reading about British designer Nicky Haslam on A Gift Wrapped Life, I discovered his watercolors of interiors. He has pieces in the permanent collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London and The Royal Institute of British Architects. Here are some…

Do You Sproost?

If not, you should. It’s fun. I never knew that my design style was “French Eclectic.” This is described as: “French Country, like its name, somehow manages to both be formal and casual, classy and unassuming at the same time. You like your spaces to feel inviting from the moment you (or your guest) opens…

Guest Post: Averill from Odi et Amo

I’m on vacation this week and asked a few friends to fill in for me. Today’s guest is Averill from Odi et Amo. I found Odi et Amo through my good friend Christy of A Lil’ Welsh Rarebit. She had been telling me for months that I needed to check out her Averill’s design blog,…

Guest Post: Mariska Meijers

I’m on vacation this week and asked a few friends to fill in for me. Today’s guest is Mariska Meijers, an Amsterdam based artist and designer whom I’ve written about before. She’s living my fantasy life (or at least one of them), painting, designing and even writing in her blog, I Used to be Snow…

A New Favorite, A Short Break and A Promise of Good Things to Come

I just discovered new resource for interior design eye candy: Kelly Green. This Australian decorator posts the most lovely images… Kelly Green is now a daily read for me. Maybe I’ll even stop lurking and comment every once in a while. Also – I will be leaving for a vacation on the West Coast tomorrow….

Averill’s Eye

Averill from Odi et Amo always posts wonderful images. And everything she writes is so thoughtful and well researched. Here are some of my favorites from her last post on stripes in interiors. See more HERE and if she’s not in your reader – add her today.

A Lasting Impression

I saw this image the other day (sorry – can’t remember where): …and I immediately grabbed a link to Timothy Whealon Interiors. As I clicked through his portfolio images, I was struck by the subtle elegance of his work. Sure – he had plenty of brighter palettes for different clients, but it seemed like each…

A Bee’s Nursery

I was just perusing the new issue of Nesting Newbies, a cute online magazine, and I found myself doing a double take. There on pages 142-149 was Melisa’s nursery! Or more accurately, her daughter, Devon’s nursery. Melisa of the lil bee fame, won possibly one of the best giveaway prizes in the history of blog…um…giveaway…

Candace Bushnell’s Living Room

Did you see this article? I love Candace Bushnell’s books – something that I wouldn’t have necessarily expected – and I’m absolutely crazy about her living room. As elegant as her writing style for character development, these rooms are a breath of fresh air in what I find to be a rather “either/or” (contemporary/traditional) design…

All Things Bright and Beautiful

I was looking through Palmer Weiss’ portfolio and I must say, I just love the way she brightens a room with color: I especially appreciate how her spaces are so livable. Many lovely rooms don’t exactly scream “comfortable” – but I would happily curl up with a book on any of those couches and chairs.
